Steps For Applying PVC Vacuum-formed Film

PVC vacuum-forming film possesses inherent water and corrosion resistance, ensuring practical reliability. Composed primarily of polyvinyl chloride, it is generally suitable for lightweight, small-scale products such as food items, pharmaceuticals, electrical appliances, daily necessities, cosmetics, and toys.

 

The process for applying PVC vacuum-forming film is as follows:

 

First, after the initial fabrication and sanding, a specialized adhesive for PVC is sprayed onto the surface. Once dry, the vacuum-forming process begins. Depending on the specific equipment used, door panels may need to be elevated by one centimeter; typically, the machine temperature is set to approximately 160°C, with a preheating time of about 20 seconds and a vacuum-forming cycle of around 50 seconds. After the process, the temperature is slightly lowered, the surface PVC film is removed, and adhesive is sprayed onto the reverse side of the door for a second vacuum-forming pass. Particular care is taken to spray adhesive evenly around the edges, ensuring that the film overlaps at the perimeter-effectively subjecting the edges to a double vacuum-forming treatment.

 

If, after vacuum forming, the film has not adhered perfectly in certain areas along the edges-or if improper film removal has caused the transferred ink layer to separate-adhesive can be applied to the affected spot to bond a small patch of film. This is followed by the application of PU lacquer. Once dry, the base coat is lightly sanded, and the finish is completed by touching up the color or spraying a polyurethane topcoat.
